Recommended Resources for Anxiety

Anxiousness is a universal human experience. By that, I mean literally, every person on earth experiences anxiousness (some more often than others).

It can manifest in different ways, such as feeling nervous before a big event, dealing with racing thoughts, or even experiencing physical symptoms like sweating or trembling. Whatever the cause, it can be overwhelming and interfere with daily life.

When you have those feelings, it's great to have helpful resources ready and on-hand. Over the years, I've compiled a list of some of my favorite resources for anxiety, including books, podcasts, and other tools.

Books

  1. "The Anxiety and Phobia Workbook" by Edmund J. Bourne: This self-help book is an excellent resource for anyone looking to manage their anxiety. It's full of practical tips and exercises to help readers identify and overcome their fears. It also includes worksheets you can use to track your progress and identify triggers.
  2. "The Power of Now" by Eckhart Tolle: This book is a classic in the world of mindfulness and meditation. It offers practical advice and techniques for staying present and reducing anxiety by focusing on the present moment. The book also gives guidance on dealing with negative thoughts and emotions.
  3. "Dare: The New Way to End Anxiety and Stop Panic Attacks" by Barry McDonagh: This book offers a fresh approach to managing anxiety by focusing on acceptance and taking action. The author draws on his own experiences with anxiety and panic attacks, so you can trust that you aren't just getting some hack advice. You'll get practical exercises to help you feel more confident and empowered. His step-by-step approach makes it simple to overcome anxiety by facing your fears and learning how to manage your symptoms.
  4. "The Worry Cure" by Robert L. Leahy: This book describes a cognitive-behavioral approach to managing anxiety. It helps readers identify and challenge negative thoughts and beliefs contributing to stress and provides practical strategies for reducing worry symptoms.
  5. "First, We Make the Beast Beautiful: A New Journey Through Anxiety" by Sarah Wilson: This book explores the idea that anxiety can be harnessed as a source of creativity and growth. It's a mix of personal memoirs and practical advice for managing anxiety.
  6. "Rewire Your Anxious Brain: How to Use the Neuroscience of Fear to End Anxiety, Panic, and Worry" by Catherine M. Pittman and Elizabeth M. Karle: This book takes a neuroscience-based approach to anxiety treatment. It helps readers understand the brain processes that underlie anxiety.
